A very
successful TV show that is still being talked - about by people who wanted to
learn financial literacy and achieved financial independence is PESOS AND SENSE.
Aired on
September 2011 over GMA NewsTV Channel 11, the said TV show was hosted by popular
investment advocate, Aya Laraya. It had discussed topics about personal finance
and investment vehicles every Filipino can invest with like the stock market,
mutual funds, unit investment trust funds and variable unit links (VUL) just to
name a few.
However, after
a successful first season with thirteen episodes, the show had ended to start
series of seminars with the purpose of getting greater interaction and wider
reach for its audiences.
Another TV
show that talks about personal finance is ANC On The Money. Moderated by
finance advocates Edric Mendoza, Melissa Gecolea, and Salve Duplito, the show
was aired every weekdays over ANC, an ABS-CBN’s News Channel. ANC can be viewed
through Skycable, Homecable and The Filipino Channel (TFC).
The said
show, however, seemed to target only specific type of audiences because of
utilizing pure English language as its medium aside from airing the show on a
cable network where common people doesn’t have access with.
A TV show
that must be watched by all Filipinos who wanted to learn financial literacy
and investing is a new personal finance show with a reality-comedy ingredient titled
Nang Magising Si Juan.
Starred by
comedian Ariel Villasanta, the other part of the comic duo of the now-defunct TV
show “The Misadventures of Maverick and Ariel”, the said TV program is a reality
show that will tackle personal finance coupled with a humor twist as Ariel
encounters the different financial issues that commonly hounded the common
Filipino.
Ariel will be joined at the helm by no-less than Philippine's Financial Guru
Mr. Francisco J. Colayco.
Televised
through GMA News TV Channel 11 every Sundays at 8:00 AM, the show’s initial
episode will be aired today where it shows the current financial status of
Ariel, once a millionaire but now a struggling individual buried with debt and
other financial obligations.
Unlike Pesos
and Sense and ANC On The Money, Nang Magising Si Juan have all the ingredients
to attract Filipinos from all walks of life to watched the show because of the
comedy – reality component in imparting to the audience on how most Filipinos misunderstand
money management.
The main highlight of the show will be the ways where we can correct our wrong perspective about money by watching our
